It’s often been said that the only thing an engine oil screen is good for is catching things with part numbers on them. Perhaps a bit of hyperbole, but if you have an engine that doesn’t have a spin-on oil filter—and a surprising number don’t—there are compelling reasons why you should install the hardware to add one.
