A decade ago, when Microsoft Windows was still in search of that elusive thing called stability, we recall a bitterly grim bumper sticker: “To continue, strike forehead on keyboard.” Fortunately, those days are mostly a dark memory and a good thing, too, for increasingly, various versions of Windows are doing cockpit duty in the electronic flight bags we reported on in the December 2005 issue. Adequate hardware is a must, but software is what does the work and there’s much to choose from when considering an EFB.
