Chelton Flight Trial: Busy, But Learnable

Although the screens are a bit small, the payoff is an unbeatable dynamic sense of where the airplane is and where it’s going.

If you’re a fan of The Military Channel, you will have seen video shot through the head-up display in a modern fighter, say an F-16 or an F-18. Paste a blue-and-brown background on that and move it off the canopy and into the center of the panel and that’s a good approximation of what it’s like to fly the Chelton FlightLogic EFIS. And that’s to say it’s entirely different from the Garmin G1000 and Avidyne’s Entegra.


Lloyd Zand’s Mooney has the most sensible EFIS installation we’ve seen. Back-up instruments are well in view and all electric, with dual batteries and alternators.
