Many pilots might be surprised to hear that Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, is looking into building a municipal airport to support corporate and personal aviation, and drive economic growth.
It feels as if we more often hear about airports closing to give way to residential or commercial development. In the Northeastern U.S., where I have been based for many years, seasoned pilots typically can name at least a few local airports that have closed over the years. It is also difficult to imagine construction of new airports in such a densely populated and noise-sensitive region.
