Piper Aircraft is offering a seven-blade propeller as optional equipment for its M700 Fury turboprop single following supplemental type certificate (STC) approval by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The company said it expects FAA approval “in the near future.”
Piper said the prop, manufactured by MT-Propeller, is formed of advanced composites and designed to boost aerodynamic efficiency. The seven-blade model improves performance while enhancing interior comfort by reducing noise, the company said.
With the new prop, the M700 will be able to take off in a shorter distance and climb at a higher rate compared with the stock five-blade propeller. The airplane is also likely to stand out on the ramp among competing turbine models that are not yet approved for the seven-blade upgrade.
“Integrating the seven‑blade MT‑Propeller into the Fury platform underscores Piper’s commitment to continuous innovation and customer‑driven enhancements,” said Marc Ouellet, vice president of engineering and manufacturing at Piper, in a news release. “This option provides operators with improved takeoff and climb performance while reducing noise levels for both passengers and communities.”
European customers who are considering equipping their M700s with the seven-blade MT propeller can contact their regional Piper dealer. MT previously announced approval of its seven-blade design for use on the Pilatus PC-12 and certain King Air models.
