As the big three companies developing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft—Joby Aviation, Archery Aviation, and Beta Technologies—have progressed toward certification of their air taxi and cargo-carrying vehicles, it has become increasingly clear that these models will not be available to private pilots.

As a result, individuals who have spent years dreaming of traveling in their own eVTOLs, have shifted their attention toward companies offering smaller, simpler electric rotorcraft designed for personal use.
