Textron Aviation announced a plan to increase its efforts toward building the aviation workforce through new, state-registered youth apprenticeship programs in the company’s home state of Kansas.

Textron, based in Wichita, said it is the first aviation company in Kansas to offer state-registered youth apprenticeships through the Kansas Office of Apprenticeships. The company is collaborating with educational institutions to develop the programs, which are designed to give high school students, starting at age 16, exposure to aviation through hands-on, paid learning experiences that will help them develop the knowledge and skills necessary on their potential career paths.
